No issues with the Hermle tubular bell as far as performance. A few years ago they started hanging the tubes by a metal clip which hurts the sound quality of the tubes by transferring sound from the tube to the tube rack and then the other tubes. Tubes hung by strings or cord have a much better sound. Who asked for the metal clips anyway? Hope this helps.

Hi, I am getting a grandfather clock at the beginning of august. I ordered it be made with a hermle 9 bell tubular chime movement as I was told it is the top of the line hermle offers. I don't know much about clock movmements, I just like the fact that it will chime. You seem to know alot about grandfather clocks. You mentioned about feedback with the hermle movement. Is there anything else about the hermle movement that could cause feedback?

The #250 has a different set of chime tubes, sounds more deep and substantial than the standard Herschede 9-tube set. I have a #294 9-tube Herschede that i will post a video of its melodies

Hentschel movements are either Hermle of Kieninger. Both are very reliable but both hang their tubes by wire instead of string and this causes vibrations to feedback into each other and the chime rack and the sound is not as clear. The Kieninger comes the closest to what Herschede made in appearance. Both current movements will give excellent service. Nobody makes a Dial (clock face)Like Herschede. Keep in mind too, Hentschel is just a cabinet maker.

It's a shame Herschede stopped making clocks -- I wonder how the Hentschel 9 tube movements compare to the Herschede
